FREN123 (French Language 1A) : A+ >> Mwaaahh!! My love for French will NEVER die! This was a pretty tough full-year course, and to tell you the truth I was scared I might get a K (a fail grade due to not meeting the mandatory course requirement of at least 75% class attendance) cos I HARDLY ever attended my tutorials, hehe..
SPAN112 (Elementary Spanish) : A >> After having my textbook stolen and never returned, as well as losing my Spanish dictionary, I guess an A isn't so bad after all, although I still wish the "plus" (+) sign was there.
COML303 (Law of Organisations): B- >> Lower than expected, but then again I'm crap at Commercial Law. Oh, and perhaps my absence in most parts of the lectures (due to the clash with my French compulsory lectures) are also to blame. (ada aja deh alesannya.. lol)
ACCY303 (Auditing) : C >> Don't laugh! I'M RETARDED, I KNOW!! However, considering the tremendous number of students who failed the course, I consider myself quite lucky. I'm still disappointed cos I really thought I did okay. Oh well, at least I won't have to repeat it again next year and that I can finally GRADUATE from my BCA and GradDipProfAccy simultaneously next month, and I'm thankful for that :)
Conclusion: Long gone are the days when my grades were dominated by A's. BOO HOO. I desire to make a great comeback in the workforce arena! And I hope my laziness won't get in the way, ever again!
Oh by the way, I've got 2 more job rejections. BOO HOO! First of all it was for the position as an Internal Auditor at KPMG. They said that I nailed the interview, but the result of my psychometric test was lower than expected *hwaaaaaa!!* Then today a partner from Hercus King & Co (a Chartered Accounting firm where my friend Kenny works) called me to say that I didn't get the job offer either. When I asked him for feedback, he said that I was a really good candidate and that I didn't do badly at all. He told me that there were 4 applicants and they all did really well, so in deciding whom they were going to offer the position to was a matter of who fits within the firm's culture best, and.. well.. that person wasn't me. I told Kenny that I'd give him a treat if I get hired, and I'm sure he already tried his best to promote me to the firm's partners.. but nope, no job offer! So no special treat for you Kenny!! Haha!
Anyway, I guess in New Zealand, organisational culture is very important after all. Being good is not enough; if you're an outstanding candidate but don't fit within the company's culture then it doesn't mean they'll hire you. I still remember when a partner from Ernst & Young told me that one time there was a candidate who'd make an excellent auditor but he didn't fit within E&Y's culture, so they decided not to hire him.
Aargh.. when will I ever get a full-time accounting-related job?? *sigh*

As usual I go to work by bus, but this morning something unusual happened. I was waiting in the bus shelter and there was a very old man on the far end of the bench. I was minding my own business when suddenly he started to have a conversation with me about my... PERFUME!
Him: What perfume are you using?
Me: (in my head) Huh? Me?
Him: It smells very nice, very unique and different
Me: Oh, it's Gucci Envy Me
Him: Goo-Chee A-B Me?
Me: Yes, Gucci Envy Me, it has a pink bottle
Him: Did you get it imported from somewhere else?
Me: Yeah, sort of, but they also sell it here at Farmers or even at the chemists
Him: Hmm.. can I get you to write it down for me? I'd like to buy one for my wife
Me: Yeah sure, so it's a Christmas present for her isn't it?
Him: Yes, I'm sure she'll love it
Me: I guarantee she will
[although I do believe the scent suits younger women better]
A while later after writing down the perfume's name on a piece of paper, the bus came so we had to say goodbye. Well well well, what a nice event it was to start the day

!!
Anyway, today I surveyed a male customer with the most beautiful eyes I've ever seen. His eyes were these very astonishing, crystal-clear (literally), marine-blue eyes!! I'm telling you, his eyes really do look like a pair of blue crystal balls! They were very shiny and twinkling, and it was like I could see the insides of his iris!! I don't think he was using contact lenses, cos they looked truly natural. I consider myself lucky to have ever seen a pair of such beautiful eyes like that!

[Especially on a guy!]

Okay, so some of my AHSS friends have been asking me when will I go back to Jordan to visit them? and quite surprisingly, three of my friends that I'm still in touch with:
Abz,
Leila, and
Adam, have asked me the same question again TODAY. As Adam told me a few minutes ago, "we all love our Dessy

". How sweet.. hehe. Well yeah, it would be great to see my Jordanian friends again, and I DO miss them, but right now I honestly have no idea when will I ever get the chance to visit the country again. One thing for sure, I'll definitely visit Jordan again one day, and I'll do that when all my precious friends are having their holidays there so that I can visit them all together at one time

.
Oh by the way, DO check out
Abz's blog, it's full of his superb artistic creations! His digital paintings are S-T-U-N-N-I-N-G! I have no idea how he made such wonderful creations. He is without a doubt the most artistic and photogenic guy I've ever met, and I'm proud to still be his buddy! Not to mention that it was I who gave him the nickname
Abz in 7th grade, and since then all his friends, family, relatives, teachers, etc either hardly ever call him by his real name, or they don't even know his real name! It's amazing how I've changed his life to a great extent by only giving him a minor suggestion: a cool li'l nickname!

These days I don't feel like blogging, but here's what happened
yesterday:
- Went to work. Gosh it was sooo boring, but I reckon it wasn't so bad after all. Besides, there was a bit of "playtime" with the boyz when no customers were in the store. Thank God they're all nice to me, especially Jon who's such a really friendly guy from the start. Fred's real fun too and he has a great sense of humour, but unfortunately this week's his last week of work at Sony.. which means that starting from next week there probably won't be as much laughter as the past few days of work.
- At night, my bro and Nina and I went to KBRI for the new ambassador's welcoming party. He seems like a friendly person, and rumours have it that his wife is a film producer (my friends said that Ca-Bau-Kan and Arisan were two movies that she produced). Not only that, but she also produced some of Peter Pan's video clips, and it looks like she was about to bring the famous Indonesian band to Wellington for the New Year's Eve party, but she cancelled it due to the band's split. BOO HOO!!
- My God, there's these three new KBRI girls and they can all sing!! Especially Lia the oldest one. She has a really nice voice when she sang last night.
- I'm glad to say that I do NOT hate my ex. I used to think that
since he's about to get married, I didn't want him in my life anymore --not even as friends-- and because of that a few months ago I deliberately "deleted" him from my life (eg. from my friendster, MSN, cellphone, etc). Moreover, I dunno know why but I always get the feeling that he hates me for ignoring him and not being friendly to him. But last night when I was sitting alone (my friends were minding their own business) he suddenly sat right behind me and we talked and talked then he went off to get me a drink (haha padahal gua gk minta
Oh, he even drew a cute flower on the styrofoam cup and tried to scare me off by saying that it was someone else's cup). Then we watched Lia sing and he commented on how good her voice is but then he noticed from her voice that she probably doesn't have a musical background like I do, then he complimented me and told me that he still finds my voice way better than hers
, and then we talked and talked and talked again within such proximity that made several people stare at us (sheesh!!). Anyway, last night I really felt okay with him u know. It's like I've finally come to realise that I don't feel "that way" about him anymore, and that I'm finally okay with the fact that he's getting married soon. Furthermore, it's good to know that the thoughts of him hating me were mere nonsense. But most of all, last night made me feel that I do NOT want him out of my life -- I still want him to be my friend. So yeah, although he used to be the biggest jerk I've ever met, I reckon he does make a good friend.
- Oh, but there IS a person that I do hate. It's not that I "hate" him, but I dislike him in such a way that makes me wanna kick his ass every time he talks to me. Last night I
thought he wasn't present, but then Koko (my ex) pointed him out and said "tuh dia!" and I thought aaarrghh! See, every time there's an event at KBRI, this weird man would always ask me things like "Des, Koko mana?" (>> emang gua pikirin) or "Des, Koko kenapa gk dateng?" (>> mana gua tau!!) or "kok kamu sama Koko datengnya gk barengan?" (>> emang kenapa??). Man, I'm so sick of him asking those questions, especially when I've told him a thousand times that we're not together anymore!! It's like he doesn't wanna believe it u know?? Which is why every time I see this person, I'd always try to get as far away from him as possible, cos he'd always try to get me to talk to him about my relationship with Koko. Anyhoo, last night he asked "kok gk sama Koko? Lagi marahan ya?" (>> aduuuh ni orang, gua getok deh lama2!!). Buat yg penasaran ni orang kyk apa, dia tuh udah bapak2, tapi aneh gitu deh, trus suka ikut campur urusan gua gitu. Damn, I miss the times when Yani and I used to make fun of him 'til our stomach hurt like hell! It's mean, I know, but it's amusing!
So here's what happened
today:
- Went to work again, but this time the day flew quite fast.. and I was faced with a mean customer. He bought a handycam, but maann! He was sooo rude! He pissed me off and I could've shouted "GO AWAY AND NEVER COME BACK!!!" to him.
- Ever since I work at Sony, there's a guy that I really get along with.. and just before I left today, he asked me out. Aww maaann! I hope this won't be a date. I mean, he's a really nice person.. but I dunno, he's not my type and I don't see him in "that" way.. and besides, he's not Muslim.. but I reckon we can still go out as friends
. - I felt tired after work, yet I walked to Manners to visit The Rock Shop and had a browse on their piano sheetmusic collection. I didn't buy any of them, so I wanted to go home and went to the bus stop at James Smith corner. The Island Bay bus was there! But I didn't have cash with me so I walked to the ATM at Courtenay Place. I was about to walk to the furthest bus stop near Embassy Theatre afterwards, but then I realised that the bus stop in front of Nandos was a lot closer. So I went back and accidentally saw Fahmi outside
Starbucks -- he was holding a frappuccino. He was looking for a seat, so I thought kagetin aaah.. and yup, I scared him from behind, haha!! Then I asked him what was he doing there, and he said he was meeting Koko so I thought oooooo-kaaayy.. is this bad timing or what? then Koko suddenly came up behind me with a cup of coffee and the three of us sat down. As much as I was surprised to see him, he probably least expected me to be there. At first I felt like I shouldn't have been there, but then they urged me to get a drink so I bought some bubble tea. After a while, Koko asked me to join them for a movie and although I didn't know what the movie was about, I said yes. Besides, it would be much more fun than staying at home. We turned out to watch Flags of Our Fathers, which is a war movie based on a true story. I don't normally like war movies, but thank God this one's got Ryan Philippe and Paul Walker in it (they're two of my favourite actors). Anyway, if I could sum up the movie in one sentence, it would be: cool at first, but boring after a while. It has a depressing ending, and strangely none of the audience made a move from their seat when the movie was over!! The three of us were like oookaaayy.. kok gak ada yg keluar?? Then I realised that most of them were oldies (kakek2 and nenek2).. hmm perhaps they're really paying tribute to the dead men in the movie.. and maybe the movie really made them feel so depressed. After hesitating for a while, we finally made a quite impolite move, which was walking out of the cinema room when everyone else wasn't moving. Afterwards, Koko and Fahmi drove me home. Man, we should've seen Borat instead! I wonder who insisted on watching Flags of Our Fathers.. - I got a MySpace message from Deborah, my Ivory Coastern best friend whom I've known since 7th grade in Jordan who's now in the States. She's facing her finals right now, and she promised me that she'll call me once her exams are over. Man, I CANNOT wait!!

- I started working part time at Sony to undertake surveys of clients. It was cool! The staff were friendly, and I was paired up with a French girl called Lydie. She's awesome, and it was nice having someone to converse in French with
. Oh yeah, one time there were these two ladies who literally spent a few hours inside the store talking with one of our sales consultants and looking at Sony TVs, compact digicams, SLR digicams, MP3 players, etc. Later after they left, I found out that these ladies had won a $100000 prize and that they were spending the money on Sony products!!
I wouldn't even mention the $$$ figure if I were them! - I finally bought a new digital camera!
Yaay!! After doing a bit of research on digicams that have the technical features that I wanted and suited my budget, I ultimately decided on the cute little pink Fuji Finepix Z3. I even visited several photography and electronic stores to find the cheapest one available! I haven't tried taking pics with my new digicam yet, cos it has to be charged overnight before doing so.
- I checked my student records again to see whether my FREN123 result is out already. To my disappointment: Nope, it ain't out yet.
- A few minutes ago I went for a pee, and I noticed that my pee smelt like cat urine. Weird.

Today I met up with my bebi Ing-Ing to watch the 2006 Christmas Parade. It was great catching up with her after not seeing her for ages! After the parade, we went straight to the Parliament building as well as Victoria University's law school (aka the Old Government Building). We didn't go inside our beloved Rutherford House building (aka Commerce students' elite new building that's envied by those who get stuck in the old Kelburn campus, lol) cos we knew that the doors would be locked on Sunday. So here are a few pics that Ing-Ing took of me with her digicam:
In front of the government's Parliament building aka The Beehive
(when I first came to Wellington, I honestly thought it was a bee farm, hehe)
Just trying to imitate the statue =p
My beloved Rutherford House uni building aka my "home" away from home
(Hey how come I look so short here?)

I used to have some of my summer classes there

Okay, this should be the shortest blog entry I've ever written. See, yesterday afternoon Kenny texted me out of the blue only to say that he passed Auditing. Then a bell rang in my head: the ACCY303 aka Auditing final grade was finally there! I was curious, I wanted to know what I got!! But.. but.. I was so scared, finding out my Auditing result was like choosing between life and death. I was so scared that I might fail Auditing, because the course is well-known as the hardest Accountancy course ever introduced in our university!

As proof, a great number people have failed it every year, including one of my girl friends who failed it last year. So yeah, I didn't have the courage to check my result yesterday. As a consequence, I couldn't sleep properly last night as I was haunted by a number of nightmares about my Auditing mark!!

Anyhoo, this morning I wasn't planning to check my Auditing mark either, but in the afternoon I was chatting with Nina and had this random urge to find out my result. So there I went.. every mouse click throughout my online student records was a step closer to viewing my result. And there I was.. scrolling down and searching for a D (a fail grade).. but I couldn't find any D's. So I looked on the left side of the box to find ACCY303.. there it was.. and I looked at what it said on the right. Then.. Alhamdulillaaaah.. I passed it!! I passed Auditing!!

I passed the freakiest course I've ever done!! It was a very low grade. In fact it was one of my lowest ever, and I'm still kinda disappointed by it. But at the same time I feel so thankful that I've passed the course! As I've said before, a lot of students have failed it (I've checked the whole list of Auditing students and their grades, and yup, TONS of people failed the course! I couldn't believe it myself, I've never seen so many failing grades ever!!) and the last thing I wanted was to fail the course and having to repeat it again next year (oh, and they already warned us that they're definitely gonna make the course harder next year!). Oh thank you

Ya Allah for letting me pass Auditing

.
Err.. so I failed to make this posting the shortest ever, huh?

- So it's true..
my beloved digital camera broke down. A few days ago I brought it to a Fujifilm store and they said it's damaged on the inside. There's no way they could manually fix it themselves. They said that the camera has to be sent to the Fuji manufacturer in Auckland, and with that kind of internal damage it would cost around NZ$300-NZ$400, and I instantly thought oh goodie goodie goodie.. what will I tell daddy?? (cos he was the one who bought the cam and he expected me to take good care of it).
Oh well, the camera's pretty old anyway (my dad bought it in 2003), and with that much cost of repairing it I might as well purchase a new one (with my own money of course -- since the damage was partly my fault). - Mom's gonna come here for my graduation ceremony this December. Yay!!
Aah, I miss eating lotsa delicious food everyday, tee hee hee. But the excitement's here already!! I can't wait to see my mommy, elle me manque tellement!
- I'm gonna start working part-time in Sony on Monday. Luckily the pay's pretty decent too!
- Since last Monday, I've already known that some of my final grades have come up on my online student records, yet it was only last afternoon that I had the courage to access my records. Two of my marks were there (SPAN112 and COML303), and considering the circumstances that I'd been through (eg. lecture timetable clashes) I'm pretty satisfied with them although they weren't straight A's. I won't tell you what I got -- at least for now. I'll do so when I have obtained all four grades, so in the mean time.. wish me luck!

Nina, Leesha, and I finally had the chance to meet up and hang out together. It's been such a long time since I last saw them, especially Leesha. We met up for lunch at Satay Kajang, and man I hate Leesha [NOT!], she didn't have to pay for my lunch when I was in the toilet u know! but anyway,

so much gurl! After lunch, we walked to Frank Kitts Park to buy some gelato (yumm!!) and after a while Leesha had to leave early so Nina and I went window shopping. We were both looking for a cool pair of sunglasses, but none of them made us look fab and stylish

so we left home empty-handed.
Late at night, I went to Poonam's

birthday party

at
Strawberry Fare. It was great fun! There were about 15 people who came, and our table was definitely the noisiest! I wanted to bring my digital camera but unfortunately it had a malfunction and wasn't working properly at all. Hwaa! What the hell happened to it?? The last time I used it was when I took pics of Tash.. and I remember putting it on top of the piano afterwards. I suppose Tash didn't knock it down, did she?? I hope not! Anyway, it was getting really late at Strawberry Fare. Some of Poonam and Anshu's friends went home, but the rest who remained headed straight to Courtenay Place for clubbing. They urged me to come along, but I was really sleepy by then that I decided to go home.
Oh, here's something random: Gwen Stefani's latest single,
Wind it Up, is sooo hilarious!! It cracked me up big time when I first heard it on the radio. I luv the
yodellay yodellay yodel loow
bits. It's just that I find yodels hysterical! Oh, you shud've seen it when Heidi Klum (a German supermodel who's married to Seal) yodelled at the Tyra Banks Show!!

Poor Saddam Hussein. The Iraqi tribunal has sentenced him to death by hanging. When I heard the news, I thought "whoa!". On one hand, I think he deserves the sentence after all that he'd done to the Iraqi people. Yet on the other hand I feel so sorry for him. I don't really like the idea of capital punishment. I think that everyone deserves to stay alive, no matter how viciously cruel they had been. I feel that it would be better if Saddam is to spend the rest of his lives in jail and be tortured with electric shocks every morning, and let God determine the appropriate punishment for him once he dies naturally.
Saddam Hussein in court
Oh by the way, what happened to Osama Bin Laden?? No more newsflash on him.. which is weird.. he's probably having a relaxing day on the mountains, watching MTV (just kidding), keeping in touch with one of Al-Jazeera's insiders, and planning the next terrorist attack. Hmm..

Today I am stealing Tash, my next-door neighbour's cat. No, it's not exactly stealing, it's more like borrowing the cat, tee hee. See, I was at my computer when I heard a cat meowing. The cat was like "meoow.." but I ignored it at first. Yet it wouldn't stop meowing so I replied "meooww?" and it went "meow meooow.." and I thought
hey, this cat's talkin to me (lol!)
So I looked out the window and found Tash staring at me, meowing again. I was really happy to see her there, and I just knew that she wanted to get into MY house. Then, without a second thought, I opened the main door and she ran in liberally (unlike Touf --Tash's sibling-- whom we had to use tricks and lure with cat food in order to get her inside). I thought Tash was hungry, so I gave her some yummy Whiskas, but strangely she wouldn't really eat them. So I thought
hmm, this kitty's just missing me
. She was so lively when I played with her, and she couldn't stop purring when I cuddled her and stroke her short, ginger fur. After a while I got tired so I went back to my comp, and Tash was sooo calm. She just sat there watching my bro sleep and me surfing the internet. It wasn't like she wanted to escape at all, whereas the last time I took Touf inside, she freaked out horribly and acted as if I was trying to kill her. After a few hours of holding Tash
captive, I realised that her owner was looking for her since he was wandering around the building while making some weird
tsk tsk tsk noises. Thus, as soon as the guy was out of sight, I shoved cutie Tash outside and waited for a while.. then voila! Her master was back, and she sweetly ran into her home. Aah.. isn't it nice that she now has two homes to go to?

I woke up quite late today, but instead of heading for the shower immediately, I grabbed the book I borrowed from the library called
Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte and started reading it on my bed. It's a really interesting novel that I couldn't stop reading until noon. The author wrote this book in 1847, and it's amazing

how famous she'd become although this was the only book she'd ever written (along with about a dozen poems). They say that she wrote this story as an indirect reflection of her own life. It is about love, obsession, hatred, sadness, solitude, and revenge. I love Bronte's use of language in explaining the story. Anyway there are already thousands of scholarly essays and book reviews out there about
Wuthering Heights, so go google it if you're interested! I'd give 4 out of 5 stars for this book.
Anyway, I was browsing for a new blog layout in
Blogskins (but then I decided to stick to my current layout as I couldn't be bothered spending a lot of time implementing a new one and making it pretty -- at least for now). Then I forgot how I ended up in a site that was full of cat stuffs: cat desktop themes, cat cursors, cat icons, cat wallpapers, etc etc, including cat Mozilla Firefox themes!! So I installed one theme which was this one:
I really love the cat icons at the top! They're so cute, cute, cute, and most importantly: they're cats! (As a human being who's overly obsessed with cats, I could ramble for paragraphs about them; considering its unnecessity, let's move to another topic.)
Meanwhile, it's been almost 2 weeks since the end of my final exams, yet until now I still haven't managed to clean up my house. That's probably one of the biggest weaknesses in Leo people (like me and a lot of my friends and some of my family members and my ex): they're completely lazy unless they have a REASON to do the things that they need to do. So beware if you're marrying a Leo! Hahaha!!

Anyway, early in the evening I went to Courtenay Central to meet up with my brother as well as my friends. I was browsing in the bookstore when I accidentally bumped into Hannah, so we had dinner together while waiting for my Indo friends to come (biasa laa.. pada hobi ngaret, hehe). At around 8:30pm we all walked to an area just beside Frank Kitts park to watch the fireworks (it's Guy Fawkes night tonight). This is the first time that I ever watch the fireworks from the seaside. Last year I saw it from Wisma with the other KBRI people, and in the previous years I normally had an exam or something that I could only watch them from home (luckily the fireworks were still visible from the dining room).
